some nkf events...
some of you might already have known, i've been working at the "National Kidney Foundation" for quite some time already. there are perks and benefits here but more importantly, it's always about the good colleagues i'm blessed to have *more or less* that i work with.
the following events in order...
- NKF 40th Anniversary
- NKF Patient Educational Program
- NKF Patient Active Day
"A Tribute to Dr Khoo Oon Teik"
"Dr Khoo Oon Teik was Professor of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Singapore. He has inspired many doctors and developed many initiatives, but one illness has held his abiding interest through all these year - chronic renal failure. In the mid 1950s, the death of his brother from chronic renal failure made him determined to help similarly afflicted patients. When dialysis treatment became possible, he worked very hard and made this available in Singapore in 1961."
"He soon realised that to help the patients with kidney failure, the resources of the community had to be mobilised. He rallied a group of like minded colleagues and doctors and formed the National Kidney Foundation ( NKF ) in 1968. The NKF was then formally inaugurated on 7 April 1969. Despite initial difficulties he perserved and over the subsequent years he provided critical leadership as NKF developed and grew to provide dialysis care to renal failure patients in need of help. He was hornoured by the National University of Singapore, in 1999, with the creation of the Khoo Oon Teik Professorship in Nephrology."
"Dr Khoo has inspired many with his vision, passion and commitment as he went about working fo the sick, But it is his humanity that has been most remembered."
"As the NKF stands on the threshold of a new phase of its mission started by Dr Khoo, forty years ago, we are reminded of his steadfastness of vision and the values he set for helping the patients with kidney failure."
"On behalf of the many who has suffered the anguish of kidney failure, the many who have cared for them and the many who have walked with and supported them on their courageous journeys, i would like to pay tribute to a truly remarkable human being."

okay okay. this is the patient active day where its a simple gathering of patients and family come together for a walk around the marina barrage. just a small kick boxing and tai chi warmup and all of us had a walk about the barrage and this is a panoromic view of the place from the top.

while doing some of the exercises. i believe its the tai chi part :)

just the amount of people making their way up the top while crossing the muddy grass.

a patient with a nurse/NM who is visually impaired if i'm not wrong but he was just singing quite loudly to himself and those around him, showing his joy and how happy he was.
he didnt allow his illness to bring him down at all. and with the "6 hour ride" as the backdrop.

a nurse taking part in a quiz where they had to hunt for answers that are located around the area.

an interior of the air-con place =x it shows how the barrage is being built and such. glass flooring with models inside.

and a random group shot with the kids jumping for the camera :D
